Project Description:
Alstom, a leading French multinational company specializing in rail transport, is expanding its footprint in Kazakhstan through a comprehensive project that includes:
Delivery of 117 new electric freight locomotives to Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ).
Construction of new service centers in Astana, Almaty, Arys, and Shu to provide maintenance services for electric locomotives.
Enhancement of existing facilities, including the Electric Locomotive Assembly Plant (EKZ) in Astana
This expansion aims to modernize Kazakhstan's railway infrastructure, improve freight transport efficiency, and support the country's economic development.
Current Status:
As of November 2024, Alstom and KTZ have signed agreements outlining the delivery schedule of locomotives and the development of service centers. The project is actively progressing, with all phases scheduled for completion by 2028.
