Project Description:
This project involves the construction of a Gas Separation Complex (GSC) near the Tengiz oil field — Kazakhstan’s largest oil asset. The facility will extract ethane and propane from dry gas sourced from the Tengiz field, operated by Tengizchevroil (TCO). The extracted ethane will be used as feedstock for a planned 1.25 million tonnes per year polyethylene production facility. This marks the first stage of Kazakhstan’s strategy to monetize growing volumes of associated gas from its major oilfields and support its downstream petrochemical development.
Current Status:
EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contract signed with a consortium led by an Italian company (name undisclosed).
Gas supply agreement signed between KMG PetroChem and Tengizchevroil.
Construction is in preparation phase with commissioning scheduled for 2029

Start Date: 2025
End Date: 2029
