Ekibastuz GRES-3

Project Description:

Ekibastuz GRES-3 is a planned coal-fired thermal power plant with a projected capacity of 1,200 MW. The project is designed to meet Kazakhstan's increasing demand for electricity. It will utilize equipment originally procured for Ekibastuz GRES-2 and implement advanced technologies to reduce atmospheric emissions. The plant will be built within the existing Ekibastuz energy hub, leveraging infrastructure from GRES-1 and GRES-2.

Current Status:

Thus, in 2025, the Ekibastuz GRES-3 project is at the preparation stage, with construction scheduled to commence in 2027 and commissioning in 2029 or 2030.
