PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Nura 500 MW Wind Power Plant is a major renewable energy project planned in Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan, near Saryozek village in Osakarov District. The project is designed as a large utility-scale wind farm with an installed capacity of 500 MW and an associated energy storage component. Karaganda Wind Power LLP is 70% owned by Gezhouba International FZE and 30% owned by Samruk-Energy through Qazaq Green Power PLC.
According to the environmental documentation, the grid infrastructure package for the project is scheduled for completion by December 2026 with commissioning planned for Q2 2027, while media and industry sources state that the full 500 MW Nura Wind Power Plant is expected to be commissioned in Q1 2029.
The substation site will include two transformers, 220 kV outdoor switchgear, 35 kV indoor switchgear combined with the operational control building, SVG equipment, fire-pumping facilities, an electrical equipment warehouse with garage, auxiliary transformers, and a checkpoint.
