The Varvarinskoye Hub project involves the construction of a ~23 MW solar photovoltaic plant paired with up to ~40 MW gas‑piston (gas‑engine) power station. The hybrid configuration is designed to ensure stable electricity supply for Solidcore Resources’ mining operations, using solar power during the day and gas‑piston generation to balance intermittent solar output. This approach allows the company to reduce dependence on grid electricity (primarily coal‑generated), increase energy self‑sufficiency, and cut greenhouse gas emissions by around 27% compared to 2023 levels. The combination of renewable and flexible gas power is relatively unique in Kazakhstan, targeting a low‑carbon yet reliable energy solution.
