Project Description
In the Karaganda Region, construction has begun on a modern football academy. The new sports facility will contribute to the development of youth football.
In July 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the regional Akimat and Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. As a result, a modern educational and training center – the Football Academy – is being built, where children and teenagers of the region will be able to train.
The project is financed by Freedom Holding Corp., which will allocate 12 billion KZT for the construction of the modern football academy in Karaganda. The academy will serve as a training base for future players of FC “Shakhter.” In addition, the investor will direct 6.5 billion KZT toward the development of grassroots football in the region: building small football fields in towns and villages, launching programs in schools and kindergartens, and organizing tournaments and festivals. Special attention will be given to women’s and youth football.
The academy will be located on a land plot of 9.6 hectares. The total area of the buildings and facilities will exceed 28,000 square meters. The plan includes the construction of a stadium for 3,500 spectators, a year-round indoor arena, a full-size heated training field, a dormitory for boys and girls, and an administrative complex. The latter will feature coaching and classrooms, medical facilities, a canteen, showers, a sauna, and a swimming pool.

The stadium will fully comply with all current standards. The seats in the stands will be made of safe and modern materials and arranged to ensure a comfortable viewing experience for every spectator.
The indoor arena and the training field will be built in the standard format of 105×68 meters. Thus, the complex will include a total of three full-size football pitches with synthetic turf. The use of artificial grass will ensure year-round training and competition. In addition, basketball and volleyball courts, a children’s playground, a workout zone, and a warm-up area are planned to be built.
According to estimates, by 2029 the programs will cover more than 40,000 schoolchildren and 3,600 students, and football initiatives will be introduced in more than one hundred educational institutions in the region. Systematic work will also be carried out to develop reserve players and improve the qualifications of coaches.
