Project Description
The private company BMT Holding Limited, whose ultimate beneficiaries are Bakyt Oishieva and Ruslan Karaev, is to invest 50.7 billion tenge in the extraction and processing of copper ore at the Tesiktas deposit. The Tesiktas field is located in the Aktogay district of the Karaganda region. The project is planned to be implemented in 2024-2031, including additional exploration of the field and the development of a feasibility study in 2024-2026. In 2027-2028, construction of a processing plant and a rolled metal plant (production of copper wire rod) is expected. The facilities are scheduled to be launched in 2029. By 2031, the project is expected to reach its design capacity of 6.6 thousand tons per year. According to the document, 500 people would have been required during the construction work, and 265 people during the operation of production facilities. The total area of the site, which is located in the Aktogay district, 100 km east of the city of Balkhash, is 16.4 square kilometers. The mining plan of the company provided for the annual extraction of up to 1.2 million tons of copper ore per year. The ore was planned to be mined for 20 years– 365 days a year in two shifts. The balance reserves of the deposit amount to 19.9 million tons.

On February 21, 2025, BMT Holding Limited signed a land lease agreement with the Department of Land Relations of the Karaganda region.
The company has committed to invest at least 16,502 thousand monthly calculation indices annually, or 60.9 million tenge in 2025. BMT Holding Limited received the license on April 19, 2024 and invested 60 million tenge in geological services, drilling and other operations. At the same time, mining and processing of nickel and cobalt, as well as the production of these metals, is one of the main types of authorized activities of BMT Holding Limited.
