The Semey Solid Waste Landfill Project is a regional infrastructure initiative aimed at modernizing municipal solid waste management near the city of Semey, Abai Region, Kazakhstan. The project includes the construction of a sanitary landfill capable of handling up to 300,000 tonnes of household solid waste per year, along with a sorting facility with an annual capacity of 75,000 tonnes. It is designed to improve waste collection, processing, and environmental management, replacing outdated infrastructure and reducing illegal dumping. The facility includes administrative and operational buildings on a site approximately 16 km from Semey. The project is part of broader environmental and public health efforts led by the regional government in partnership with an experienced international contractor. Completion of this project will enhance local waste management systems and reduce environmental risks associated with unmanaged waste disposal.
