Qarmet has started construction of a new complex of hot-dip continuous galvanizing and polymer coatings. The new lines will be an important step in the implementation of the strategic program for the renewal and expansion of production capacities of the Qarmet steel division, implemented as part of the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to modernize the largest mining and metallurgical enterprise in Kazakhstan. The total investment in construction will amount to about 84 billion tenge. The implementation of the project will create an additional 350 new jobs and will be an important step in strengthening Qarmet's position in the high-quality steel market, increase the share of high-value-added products and make a significant contribution to the development of the metallurgical industry in Kazakhstan. For the current period, the Qarmet metallurgical plant operates two hot-dip continuous galvanizing lines with a total capacity of 592 thousand tons per year, as well as a polymer coating line with a capacity of about 115 thousand tons per year. The new complex will increase the total output of galvanized steel to 844 thousand tons per year and polymer-coated products to 254 thousand tons per year, as well as expand the range in thickness and width of the strip produced. These lines will become an essential element of the technological modernization of the enterprise, ensuring the production of competitive, import-substituting products for construction, engineering and infrastructure projects. The new complex will fully supply Kazakhstan with galvanized steel and polymer-coated metal, forming the steel frame of the country.
