Project Description
Masdar, the UAE's clean energy company, is leading the development of a 1-gigawatt (GW) wind power plant in Kazakhstan's Jambyl region. This project includes a 600-megawatt-hour (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to ensure a stable and reliable power supply. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 300,000 homes in southern Kazakhstan and will help avoid up to 2 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Current Status: The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the project was signed in November 2024. Construction is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026.
