PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Sarens is planning to develop a logistics and commercial hub near the Khorgos / Nur Zholy border area in Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu Region. The project is designed to support freight flows between China, Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Europe. The Prime Minister’s Office confirms a related infrastructure scope at the Nur Zholy checkpoint: a 3.2 km bypass road, 12 m wide, intended for oversized cargo weighing more than 100 tonnes, parking zones covering 81.6 hectares, a road bridge and supporting infrastructure. The Zhetysu regional administration separately states that the Nur Zholy checkpoint has introduced 24/7 operations and an electronic queue system, increasing its capacity from 800 to 1,600 vehicles per day. The same regional source states that an earlier 2.4 km bypass road for oversized and passenger transport has already been completed at the Nur Zholy checkpoint.
