Project Description

The International Center for Industrial Cooperation “Central Asia” is a major joint initiative between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, located on the border near the Atameken–Gulistan checkpoint in Turkistan Region. The center spans 100 hectares, with 50 hectares on each side of the border, and aims to establish a cross-border industrial and logistics hub. The project is designed to facilitate bilateral trade, manufacturing, and logistics operations, serving as a platform for textile, pharmaceutical, machinery, and food processing industries.
By mid-2025, infrastructure leveling and perimeter fencing had been completed on the Kazakh side, with engineering and construction work starting in March 2025. The center is included in Kazakhstan’s TURAN Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which offers tax and customs benefits to investors. The facility is expected to become operational by the end of 2026, with formal launch scheduled for 2027. Around 5,500 jobs are projected to be created, boosting regional development and cross-border cooperation.
Global Textile (Uzbekistan) is already implementing a pilot textile plant within the center as of 2025.
