The Tengiz GSC is a large‑scale gas‑processing facility being built near the Tengiz Field oil field in western Kazakhstan. Its main purpose is to treat “dry gas” produced at Tengiz, extracting valuable hydrocarbon fractions — primarily ethane and propane — from the gas stream. Once operational, the complex will process up to 9.1 billion cubic meters of dry gas annually, producing up to about 1.6 million tonnes of ethane and up to 360,000 tonnes of propane per year. The ethane output is intended to supply feedstock for a new petrochemical facility (polyethylene plant) under the KMG PetroChem LLP umbrella. The project marks a major step for Kazakhstan in monetizing associated gas and developing its downstream petrochemical industry.

The GSC is designed to process up to 9.1 billion cubic meters of dry gas per year.
It will extract up to 1.6 million tonnes of ethane and 360,000 tonnes of propane annually.
UOP (a Honeywell company) is the licensed technology provider for ethane and propane separation units.
The project is expected to create about 1,600 jobs during construction and around 400 permanent jobs during operation.
