Project Description
According to the Ministry of Transport, an investor from the UAE is implementing a large-scale program to modernize Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana. The project includes construction of a second runway 3.5 km long, a third passenger terminal (T3), as well as a modern cargo terminal for efficient processing and transshipment of cargo. Special attention will be paid to the creation of Aerotropolis, a multifunctional complex that will combine an industrial and logistics zone and a business cluster with hotels, retail and office space, as well as logistics terminals. This will turn the territory around the airport into a powerful economic center. In addition, the plans include modernization of the fleet of special vehicles, introduction of digital solutions and automated management systems. Special importance is attached to personnel training: all airport employees will undergo step-by-step training and certified trainings in accordance with international civil aviation standards. The construction of the new international terminal T3 will increase the airport's capacity to 15 million passengers per year by 2033 and 30 million by 2053. The investor also intends to expand the existing T2 terminal. In order to ensure uninterrupted refueling of aircrafts under conditions of increased number of flights, the fueling and refueling complex will be expanded - its area will more than double: from 5.2 to 11.6 hectares.

The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Terminals Astana Airport Limited (a subsidiary of Terminals Holding, UAE) signed an agreement on trust management for 25 years in respect of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana.
Terminals Holding, a provider of airport and aviation services, has experience in the construction, operation and management of international airports and is part of Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
