Project Description
This project involves the development of a modern industrial complex for the deep processing of chrome‑bearing raw materials in western Kazakhstan’s Aktobe Region. It is designed to move the local industry beyond raw exports toward high‑value manufacturing by producing fertilizers, chemical products, metallurgical components, and biologically active additives from chromite feedstock. The initiative was launched under Kazakhstan’s “investment order” mechanism, which identifies priority regional projects and matches them with strategic investors. The main investor and project proponent is Sichuan YinHe Chemical Co. Ltd, a major Chinese chromium chemical producer. The facility is planned with an annual capacity of up to 200,000 tonnes, with potential annual output value approaching USD 1 billion, and the creation of over 600 jobs in the region. The project aims to strengthen supply chains, support local raw material demand, and shift Kazakhstan’s export focus to high‑margin finished products rather than semi‑finished ore. A mutual agreement of interest has been signed between the investor and Kazakh authorities after exploratory visits and technical‑environmental discussions.
