Project Description
Construction of a new power unit at CHPP-3 worth 134.6 billion tenge has started in Karaganda. The project will provide the region with additional electricity and heat supply capacities amid a growing energy shortage.The project will become a powerful impetus for the industrial, social and economic development of the region. The commissioning of the power unit will provide Karaganda with an additional 140 megawatts of electricity and 180 gigacalories of heat per hour. This means stability, new opportunities for industry, confidence for business, and comfort for residents. The construction will provide new jobs, allow specialists to improve their skills, and support the development of a local engineering school. Most importantly, this project will strengthen the energy security not only of the Karaganda region, but also of the entire country. A new boiler unit and a turbo generator will be built. This will make it possible to heat more than 400 new multi-storey buildings and social facilities. Thus, the city gets an energy reserve for expansion and further development.

As noted in the Group of companies "Kazakhstan Municipal Systems", Karaganda is actively developing: New residential areas and enterprises are being built, and the load on the energy system is growing every year. In the heating season of 2024-2025, the heat deficit amounted to 174 gigacalories per hour, and by 2026 it is projected to increase to 390 gigacalories per hour. The new power unit is designed to stabilize the situation and ensure reliable energy supply to the city.
"Thanks to the launch of the new power unit, over 400 residential buildings and social facilities will be provided with heat. In addition, the project not only solves one of the most pressing tasks of the city — providing stable heat and electricity, but also creates 55 new jobs, contributing to the economic recovery of the region," said Dinmukhamet Idrissov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Kazakhstan Municipal Systems Group of Companies.
