Project Description
The Beyneu – Saksaulsky highway is a major road infrastructure project planned in western Kazakhstan as part of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor). The project aims to construct a new strategic highway connecting the Beyneu area in the Mangystau region with the Saksaulsky area in the Kyzylorda region. The road will significantly shorten the transport route between Kazakhstan’s interior regions and the ports on the Caspian Sea, including Aktau and Kuryk. According to the Ministry of Transport, the project will reduce the current route distance by approximately 900–1000 km compared with existing road corridors. The new route is expected to reduce cargo delivery times to approximately three days. The highway will enhance Kazakhstan’s role as a regional logistics hub linking China, Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the South Caucasus, and Europe. The project is part of a broader national strategy to expand transit capacity and improve multimodal transport connectivity. Financing is planned with support from several international financial institutions. The project also includes road engineering infrastructure such as bridges, drainage systems, and supporting logistics facilities. Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly increase freight volumes along the Middle Corridor.

Other important details
The ~1.5 billion USD (~780–800 billion KZT) budget covers multiple road sections of the Middle Corridor, not just Beyneu – Saksaulsky. It includes the Beyneu – Saksaulsky segment (~500 km) and the Bozoy – Shalkar segment (~260 km), forming a total corridor of ≈765 km. The funding covers construction, engineering, and technical supervision for all these sections.
Kyzylorda – Aktobe — the first phase of expansion to four lanes has started to improve traffic capacity on the west-central transport corridor.
Aktobe – Ulgaisyn — reconstruction and four-lane widening of the western M‑32 section is planned.
Karaganda – Zhezkazgan — major reconstruction and expansion continues in 2026 to improve central regional connectivity.
“Center – West” (Central – West) — a nearly 900 km highway project is planned to strengthen the link between the capital and western regions.
Beineu – Saksaulsky (Middle Corridor) — feasibility study completed, financing being arranged, construction expected to start in 2026.
Zhanaozen – Turkmenistan border — four-lane expansion of the international corridor is planned for completion in 2026.
City bypass roads — bypasses are planned around cities such as Saryagash, Kyzylorda, Petropavlovsk, and Rudny to improve transit flow.
Local network expansion — approximately 4,000 km of regional roads are planned for construction in 2026 to improve local connectivity.
