Project Description
The Government of Kazakhstan, in partnership with U.S.-based Clearbrook Energy Solutions (CES) and Kazakhstan-based AG TECH LLP, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a facility for manufacturing and assembling Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The plant will enhance Kazakhstan’s energy security, support integration of renewable energy, and provide reliable backup power for digital infrastructure such as data centers and telecom networks. Clearbrook will supply advanced BESS technology and virtual power plant solutions, while AG TECH will manage localization, integration of digital energy management systems, and assembly operations. The project emphasizes local capacity building, reducing reliance on imported energy storage solutions. This strategic project also aligns with Kazakhstan’s digital economy initiatives, as highlighted by Vice Prime Minister Zh. Madiyev, who signed the MoU on behalf of the government. Total investment is estimated at approximately USD 350 million. The MoU was signed during the C5+1 Business Conference in Washington, D.C.
