Project Description
The Baiterek project is a joint initiative between Kazakhstan and Russia aimed at modernizing the existing Zenit-M launch pad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The goal is to convert it into a modern, environmentally friendly space launch facility for the new Soyuz-5 (also known as “Irtysh”) medium-class launch vehicles. The project is designed to strengthen Kazakhstan’s presence in the international space industry by establishing an advanced and sustainable launch infrastructure.

The complex will support launches of the Soyuz-5 rocket, capable of placing up to 17 tons of payload into low Earth orbit.
Once operational, the complex is expected to handle 6 to 8 launches per year.
