Asia United Steel is building a green steel plant in Almaty Region, Kazakhstan, with an annual production capacity of 1 million tonnes of steel. The project utilizes Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) technology, replacing coke with natural gas, reducing carbon emissions by more than 60% per tonne of steel. The plant will mainly produce strip steel, rebar pipes, galvanized steel, sectional steel lines, and other products. The facility occupies 120 hectares and is designed as a complete industrial chain, from deep processing of raw materials to high-quality finished products. Investments are focused on deploying advanced international equipment and sustainable low-carbon technologies. The project will directly create more than 600 jobs and contribute to regional economic development. In the future, it plans to expand into high value-added products such as household appliances, fittings, and construction profiles, creating a “steel city” with advanced green technologies. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the Governor of Almaty Region and company founders, emphasizing strategic alignment with Kazakhstan’s economic development and business environment.
