PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project is a large-scale Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facility planned in Almaty, Kazakhstan, designed to convert municipal solid waste into electrical energy through thermal treatment. The plant is expected to process up to 2,000 tons of waste per day, significantly reducing landfill dependency in the city. It will generate approximately 60 MW of electricity, which is intended to be integrated into the local power grid. Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. is a Chinese listed environmental engineering company specializing in waste-to-energy (WtE), municipal waste treatment, and integrated environmental infrastructure projects. It develops, builds, and often operates incineration-based energy recovery plants in China and abroad, including Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
In Kazakhstan, Junxin operates through special purpose companies such as “Junxin Environmental Protection (Kazakhstan) Limited” and a local Almaty SPV, which exist primarily to implement the Almaty WtE project. These local entities are legal/project vehicles tied to the Chinese parent company and do not function as independent industrial operators.
In Kazakhstan Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. uses two entities : Junxin Environmental Protection (Kazakhstan) Limited (registered in Astana) and Junxin Environmental Protection (Almaty). Both SPVs were established in July 2025
