PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Almaty Mountain Cluster (AMC) is an ambitious initiative by the Government of Kazakhstan to transform the Almaty region into Central Asia's premier year-round mountain tourism destination. The project includes the development and integration of several ski resorts, including Shymbulak, Oy-Karagai and Ak-Bulak, through the construction of new cable cars and infrastructure improvements. The state assumes responsibility for quality assurance and control during construction, including of an environmental nature. Special attention is paid to the inclusiveness of infrastructure. Today, the travel and tourism sector contributes more than 10% to the global GDP, which is more than 11 trillion US dollars. It provides jobs for more than 300 million people, which is one in four new jobs
Experts estimate that $1 invested in mountain infrastructure attracts $2 of private investment in resort infrastructure. This is a huge opportunity for our economy to diversify. This project will completely change the economic landscape not only of Almaty city and Almaty region, but also of the whole country
