PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Samruk-Energy JSC and China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE) are jointly developing Kazakhstan’s first pumped storage hydropower plant under a Joint Development Agreement announced on 15–16 July 2026. The official presidential statement identifies a planned installed capacity of 600 MW and places the proposed facility in the Kargaly River valley in Almaty Region.
