The Turan May project is an investment initiative to construct a modern oilseed extraction plant and vegetable oil refinery in Semey, Kazakhstan. The plant will process up to 500 tons of oilseed per day through extraction and refine up to 300 tons of vegetable oil per day, targeting both domestic consumption and export markets. The initiative seeks to deepen local processing of oilseed crops, increase the production of finished vegetable oils, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s competitiveness in regional export markets including Central Asia, China, and the Middle East. The project has strategic significance for the Abai region’s agribusiness sector, supporting infrastructure and creating employment opportunities. Approximately 13 hectares of land have been allocated by the local akimat to support production facilities and associated infrastructure. As of early 2026, key issues around connection to utility networks (electricity, water, gas) are under review by national ministries, and resolution of these is critical to progressing construction. Legal and administrative support is provided by the Prosecutor’s Office of Semey to ensure regulatory compliance. Completion and commissioning are planned for late 2026.
