The latest public information indicates that the project is still at a strategic planning and technology-selection stage rather than confirmed physical construction. KAZ Minerals Management stated in June 2026 that a preliminary feasibility study has been prepared. The project is expected to support Kazakhstan’s policy of increasing domestic processing of mineral raw materials and producing higher-value products inside the country. Earlier government sources said the project would create more than 1,000 new jobs. The raw material base is expected to include copper concentrate from KAZ Minerals’ major assets, including Aktogay and Bozshakol.
