The Development Bank of Kazakhstan describes the Sofood Kaz project as a plant for fermented cheese, ultrafiltration-produced cheese, cream cheese and Turkish labneh in Konaev.

Solico Group already has a Kazakhstan market presence through MehKaz, which distributes dairy products, sauces and semi-finished products under brands including Kalleh, MAK and Sorbon.

The investment agreement includes commitments to create at least 400 permanent jobs, train Kazakh specialists and support local communities in Almaty Region with annual social initiatives of around KZT 50 million from 2028 to 2038.

Investment figures have also evolved. The latest signed investment agreement gives KZT 35.2 billion for the cheese project.  In February 2026, the Ministry referred to approximately USD 180 million across all implementation stages, while an earlier regional-government description referred to a broader KZT 49.2 billion cheese-and-french-fries project.  Those older figures should not replace the KZT 35.2 billion amount in the current cheese-plant card because the disclosed scope has changed.
